Description

Gone are the days of ‘one and done’ weekly lab exercises. This manual walks you and your students through a single, semester-long, experiment mimicking genuine laboratory research. Starting with yeast cells, students isolate the TUB1 gene encoding alpha tubulin, tag it with the GFP gene, amplify it in E. coli and then express it back in yeast. The semester culminates with students visualizing their cells using fluorescent microscopy. The manual includes extensive instructor resource pages covering lab prep.
