Steve Parker

Associate Dean

I am currently the Associate Dean (Teaching & Learning) in the School of Nursing & Midwifery at Flinders University and have been in that role for nine years. As well as being a senior academic, I am a registered nurse. I teach critical thinking, communication/interpersonal skills, ethics, and research. My research areas include the theory-practice gap, assessment alignment, and factors in first year that influence student success. I have a Diploma in Education (Nursing) and a Bachelor of Education (Secondary). My PhD, which I completed in 2001, was in the area of professional autonomy. I have been teaching for over 30 years in the higher education sector in Australia and enjoy exploring new technologies that support life, work and learning. I led the redesign of the Flinders University Bachelor of Nursing curriculum which uses a blended learning approach.
