I graduated with an MSci (Hons) in Chemistry from the University of Bristol (UK), and stayed to complete my PhD in Physical Organic Chemistry. I followed this with a 3-year postdoctoral position at the University of Bath (UK), before moving to the pharmaceutical industry for five years. Following the closure of the site and the birth of my twins in 2011 I made the decision to change careers and move into teaching. I completed my PGCE at Cambridge University (UK) and was then inspired to complete my MEd (also at Cambridge) a couple of years later following some sponsorship from my school at the time.
My MEd actually looked into whether there was a benefit in terms of engagement with videos if it was me who had made them or if it was someone else. In the realms of my school and my pupils I found that there was no difference in engagement, or attainment following a 10-week programme, I have to say that these results were counter to what I originally thought, and having now completed the Level 1 Certification is also counter to what is believed across the flipped community.
I am currently working at a selective independent school in Cambridge (UK), where SMT are very supportive of the flipped concept and are supporting me through this process in order to feed back to the wider staff.
