Laura Garfinkel

My name is Laura Garfinkel and this is my fourth year teaching High School Science and third year working with a flipped classroom. I have taught both biology, chemistry and honors chemistry. This year I am teaching AP Chemistry for the first time along with my other chemistry classes at Aberdeen High School. My background includes a BS in Science from The Pennsylvania University and a Masters in Secondary Education. Over the last three years I have begun to flip my classes, allowing me to devote more time to the actual ‘doing’ of science, giving students the opportunity to experience science in a more hands on way. Last year I won an Academic Award for a unit I had designed involving chemical processes and Ocean Acidification – a unit that was only made possible due to the nature of my Flipped Class.
