I am a retired educator who spent 27 years in public education as a classroom teacher, library media specialist, and system wide technology facilitator. After retiring in 2008, I came to work for Alabama Public Television in the education department as an Education Specialist. APT’s office is located in Birmingham, Alabama. As an Education Specialist at APT, I design and facilitate online PD courses related to the latest trends and methods in education for educators holding leadership certification in Alabama. I also provide training both face-to- face and online on how to use APT/PBS online resources in the classroom to inspire learning and engage students. I attend and present at conferences such as EdCamp, the Alabama Education Technology Conference, the Alabama School Librarians Association, the Adult Education Conference, and local school system workshops. Since 2013, I have also been involved with the Fund for Teachers national program that provides fellowships to teachers to design their own professional development learning opportunities. I have a BS degree in Elementary Education and a Master’s degree in Education/Library Science. Both degrees were earned from Jacksonville State University in Alabama. I continue to keep my Teacher Certification up-to-date and active by participating in my own professional development through local, state, and national educational learning opportunities.
