Birgit Jensen

I earned my Ph.D. in German Literature from Ohio State University (1993) and subsequently taught at Oberlin College, Middlebury College, John Carroll University, and now East Carolina University. In 2014, I was searching for a better way to use technology and bring cross-cultural critical thinking into my courses when I discovered the flipped classroom. As I worked and re-worked my material, my courses morphed into flipped-learning environments. I have given numerous workshops on flipping foreign language instruction, have a flipped-learning blog (https://jensensflippedgerman.blogspot.com/) that gets picked up the Flipped Learning Community website, and am publishing research studies undertaken with my colleague Laura Levi Altstaedter on the efficacy of flipped learning and cross-cultural critical thinking.
