Andrew Swan

In June 2018 I finished my 18th year of teaching middle school (currently 8th-grade US History/Govt in a Boston suburb). That was my 5th year of flipping nearly all direct instruction, and my third year of a mastery-based model. Previously I have taught 6th, 7th, and 8th grade English, ancient history, & geography in Maine and in Massachusetts. Also I have been the faculty advisor for a student council, a school newspaper and TV news program. I graduated from Yale University in 2000 with a B.A. in History, and earned an M.A. from Simmons College in 2004. Since 2017, I have been a co-director of The SSChat Network, which facilitates weekly Twitter chats and an ‘unconference’ at the annual NCSS Convention.
