I obtained a BA (Math and Computer Science major) and BEd (Math) from Mount Allison University in Canada. I moved to New Zealand immediately after graduating and taught in a low decile public school for 4 years where i led an extension programme and obtained an assistant to Faculty Coordinator Mathematics position in my 3rd year. this school followed the National Curriculum and i initiated Unit Standards assessment while there. Then i moved to an independent school which follows the CIE curriculum and have been there ever since (18 year currently). I am Faculty Coordinator of Mathematics there and like to think i am an innovative and resourceful teacher. I have received much training in innovative mathematical teaching, differentiation, inquiry, many technology tools and most recently flipped learning. I have been part of many professional development sessions where i share my experience and training with colleagues at my school and others. In the last few years i have been leading the faculty towards improving problem solving/application skills, increasing students participating in mathematical competitions and acknowledging student achievement and service to maths with an annual mathematics prize-giving.
