Elena Paola Galeano

Elena Paola Galeano is a lecturer at the Department of Languages and Culture in Universidad de Los Andes, Bogotá (Colombia). With more than 15 years of teaching experience, Paola is a professional educator who believes that the language classroom provides numerous opportunities for students to develop their intercultural communicative competence. She has taught basic, intermediate and advanced college-level Spanish courses to students from different cultures and backgrounds, and has also served as area coordinator, curriculum planner, and language tutor. Paola has also worked as an EFL teacher, specializing in teaching academic reading and writing skills. Her research interests include intercultural communication, material design, using movies in the classroom, language testing, and flipped learning. Paola’s educational background includes a B.A. in Spanish and English from Universidad Pedagógica Nacional, a Master in Education from Carthage College (WI, USA), and a Master of Arts in Teaching Foreign Languages from Universidad de Los Andes. When she isn’t working, you’ll find Paola spending time with her friends and family, traveling the world, hiking and connecting with nature, or interacting and exchanging with people from different cultures.
