My B.A. in History came from Yale University in 2000, and I gained an M.A.T. from Simmons College in 2003.

I am certified to teach Social Studies 5-12 for the state of Massachusetts.

I have taught public middle school for 17 years, one year in Maine and the rest in Massachusetts. For some years I had a mixture of ELA/Social Studies; for 8 years I taught 8th grade ELA; in 2012, I switched to Social Studies (early US history & government) — in the same Newton MA school since 2004. My content partner and I started flipping together in 2013, after reading the original _Flip Your Classroom_ book. We have conducted several regional presentations and workshops to share our flipped learning practices, including the New England League of Middle Schools annual conference in 2015 and 2016.

Since February 2017, I have been a co-moderator of the #sschat group which facilitates weekly Twitter chats and coordinates various activities include the “un-conference” sessions at NCSS events.
