In 2008 I earned my BS in Pure Mathematics. My teaching credential was completed at Fresno state. For my first seven years I taught math at Sequoia Middle School in Pleasant Hill California. During my second year at Sequoia I learned of the flipped classroom and had a test run of it for a quarter in one of my classes. I was hooked, for 4 years I taught my 7th grade class using this method. I brought in PBL lessons and inquiry lessons too. During my last year I rotated up into 8th grade with my students. This was the best year because I had developed such deep relations with my students over the course of two years. Along the way I also completed a MS in Pure Mathematics at California State University East Bay.
This last year I moved back to Fresno California and started teaching at Sunnyside High School. My geometry course challenged me to rethink how I was using classroom time. In the Fall I am returning to Sunnyside as the Lead math teacher of the Geometry Team.
